As I’m writing and submitting this blog article, Pokémon Go is releasing Sinnoh Pokémon on the roads. Now, I love different productions for one reason or another but Generation 4 appears to have a unique spot in my heart as that was when I got back to Pokémon after a lengthy hiatus. Specifically, Pokémon Platinum ranks as one of my favourite Pokémon games since they took Diamond and Pearl and improved everything about these games making a stellar classic.

But we are here in order to ascertain which ones are the very best to get a Monotype (or Single Type) Run which is a run where you simply catch and train one type of Pokémon. And sadly, the Sinnoh matches have been hit or miss. Although more Pokémon are introduced, Diamond and Pearl just have 150 Pokémon accessible so that you get some fairly average runs. Platinum happily adds 60 more Pokémon to Sinnoh which makes a whole lot of types doable or splendid.

I have written previous posts on Monotype Run so check those out. But for those that are unfamiliar here are some rules.

  1. Just Pokémon of a certain type may be caught and trained.
  2. You should catch the very first Pokémon available of this kind if your starter does not match that type (you will then need to disregard that starter).
  3. You may train a Pokémon that evolves to stated kind provided that you get it done ASAP.
  4. No trading enabled
  5. Just Pokémon captured before Elite Four have been all counted.

Without further ado, let’s take a look! A listing of complete team combinations can be seen below too.

The Greatest Types

Beginning with the top tier I’d state the Water, Poison, Conventional , Psychic, Steel, along with Struggling forms are types that you ought to go for because of their commonality, early availability and kind coverage. This is the first time in the series in which Poison can shield itself from Psychic attacks thanks to Drapion and Stuntank and if you have Roserade, Toxicroak, Crobat, and Tentacruel backing up you you’re in for a good moment. Struggling types meanwhile possess a close consistent occurrence-rate since you have Chimchar as your own starter and then later you got Medicham, Toxicroak, also, of course, Lucario. Water is splendid as standard but this run is unique as you have Empoleon who’s incredibly infrequent and astonishing. Empoleon’s presence also makes the Sinnoh games a hidden gem for a metal team, certainly don’t miss it here.

Meanwhile, the Platinum improves these kinds further and create Ground along with Flying kinds entertaining…thanks tooooo Gliscor! Gliscor’s wonderful type combo enhances both of these forms and come-on, it is Gliscor, they’re the very best. You Can Also prepare a Mamoswine for Earth and also a Togekiss and Yanmega for Flying.

The Worst Forms

Like regular, Dragon and Ice are types that I strongly urge against. Despite Platinum these kinds suffer as a result of late game accessibility (notably Ice), limited selections, and bad coverage. Furthermore, if you’re playing Diamond or Pearl, Fire along with Electric are fairly abysmal. Sure, you can capture both types early on however there are hardly any of these. Platinum increases their diversity and leaves them doable but it will certainly not be a walk at the park. Dark kinds can also be rather dismal if your enjoying Pearl or Platinum since they’re accessible mid-game at best and there’s a lackluster motto. Luckily, at Diamond, you can catch a Murkrow at Eterna Forest after the first gym.

Spiritomb

If you skipped forward and looked through the list, you may have discovered Spiritomb is lacking out of the Dark and Ghost kind lists. That’s because he is among the toughest non-legendary Pokémon to capture. You want to acquire the Old Keystone, that itself is not overly difficult, however, you also have to speak to 32 people in the underground. They have to be actual individuals too and not NPCs! Luckily, you will only need another person with Diamond/Pearl/Platinum to perform it. But since you want an additional copy of the match in order to get Spiritomb this disqualifies Spiritomb according to our rules. Nevertheless, Dark kind still has impartial policy as a result of Drapion.
